Early American Staunton Sets
Current wisdom has Drueke being the first American manufacturer of chess sets from 1914. There is clear evidence that Staunton Pattern chessmen were being made in North America pre-1900 and possibly as early as 1860. Images of sets in collections along with documentary evidence is shown in this album. It is not currently possible to tie a maker to a particular set of pieces.
